The secret is simple: if you turn the vase over to one side, the coin drops out. If you turn it to the other side, the coin goes into a hidden chamber. A bit of cushioning inside the chamber can enhance the effect.  Tweezers and a screwdriver might help removing the supports. If some supports remain, it shouldn't affect the magic.
