Model
Spool wire holder
Description
You might be wondering why anyone would bother 3D‑printing a wall‑mounted bracket for a spool when you could just run two screws through the spool and call it a day. There are actually a few solid reasons.
If you want to reuse cardboard spools, driving screws straight into them won’t give you enough strength, and they’ll tear out under load. A printed bracket supports the spool properly. It’s also far more convenient. If you have multiple spools of wire or rope and want to take one with you, you can simply unthread the nut and lift the whole spool off the bracket. On top of that, a spool mounted in a bracket is much stronger and more secure than hanging from a single screw at the top. A screw can rip through the edge, whereas the bracket supports the entire roll evenly.
Overall, reusing old spools for storing rope, wire, or similar materials becomes a practical, organized, and surprisingly durable solution when paired with a proper bracket.
And this bracket was designed to take less than 45g of material (Using standard print settings), so it shouldn't be very expensive
If you can think of any other reasons why this bracket is or isn't more useful than just screwing a spool to the wall. Please leave it in the comments.
